  5. Pick your trigger and action. Choose the Google Sheets event that should start the workflow, then the Notion action it should run. Add a condition step if only some records should pass through.

What to watch when writing Google Sheets data into Notion

Append, do not insert at the top

Inserting rows at row 1 breaks every formula and named range anchored below it. Append and sort in a view instead.

Decide what a repeat means

If the same record arrives twice, should it add a row or update the existing one? Match on an ID column rather than the whole row.

Watch the row ceiling

Spreadsheets slow down long before they hit their hard limits. For anything high-volume, write to a database and report from the sheet.

Pin the column order

Writing by position breaks the moment someone reorders a column. Write by header name where the connector allows it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Google Sheets to Notion?

Connect both accounts to Autonoly, choose a Google Sheets trigger such as “Cell value changed”, then pick the Notion action you want to run. The workflow goes live as soon as you save it — there is no code to write and nothing to host.

Is the Google Sheets to Notion integration free?

Autonoly has a free plan you can build and run this workflow on. Paid plans add volume and advanced steps. See the pricing page for current limits.

How quickly does data sync between Google Sheets and Notion?

Workflows run as soon as the Google Sheets trigger fires. You can also run them on a schedule if you would rather batch updates than send them one at a time.

Can I filter which Google Sheets records reach Notion?

Yes. Add a condition step between the trigger and the action, and only records matching your rule continue. This is the usual way to keep test or draft records out of a production system.

Do I need a developer to set this up?

No. The builder is visual, and both Google Sheets and Notion connect through standard authentication. If you do want code, you can drop into a script step at any point in the workflow.
